Ukrainians found themselves in danger
Regrettably, said Artem Filipenko, of the National Institute for Strategic Studies of Ukraine, Ukraine does not have now a clearly formulated position on Transnistria. There is only a common position that a solution should be agreed by respecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova within its legal borders declared in 1991.
Tiraspol angry that Chisinau is not cozying up to it
Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Alexandru Flenchea contradicts Tiraspol’s chief negotiator to the Transnistrian settlement process Vitaly Ignatiev as to the fact that the negotiations between the sides practically reached a deadlock. According to him, it is not an impasse, but different dynamics as regards the number of meetings in different formats.

According to the executive’s press service, three priorities were agreed in the Transnistrian settlement process and in the promotion of reintegration policies, namely the extension of public services for the inhabitants of the Transnistrian region, joint control at the Moldovan-Ukrainian border on the Transnistrian segment (Kuchurgan – Pervomaisc), and the measures to support trade between the sides and to promote exports.

The president of the Romanian People’s Party (PPR) Vlad Țurcanu announced his intention to leave the party because of the differences in the views as to how the Romanian political pole should be unified in Moldova. He said that his colleagues from the Romanian People’s Party are tempted by the Liberal leader Dorin Chirtoacă’s offer to unify the pro-Romanian forces together with the National Liberal Party and the Save Bessarabia Union. The politicians who represent these parties have nothing to prove in Moldova as they are to blame for the fact that those who have pro-Romanian views are now on the periphery.

According to the Public Opinion Barometer, if parliamentary elections were held in Moldova next Sunday, only three parties would enter the legislative body. Some 27.6% of those polled would vote for the Party of Socialists (PSRM), 17.5% for the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) and 7.4% for the Democratic Party (PDM). The Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA) and the Shor Party that are now represented in Parliament would gain 3.3% and 2.9% of the vote.
