According to political researcher Dionis Cenuța, the Freedom House report for 2020 elucidates stagnation rather than significant progress in Moldova and Ukraine that are still dominated by politicized justice and acute oligarchic influence. The pundit uses these arguments to reiterate the idea that the “anti-oligarchic spring” failed in the Eastern neighborhood of the EU.
Coronavirus at internal level...
Fourteen passengers from the plane by which the Moldovan woman infected with the novel coronavirus flied cannot be identified as they indicated false data in the epidemiological forms completed when entering Moldova. President Igor Dodon said changes will have to be made to the legislation so that the persons could be fined or held criminally accountable. A relevant bill will be examined in the March 11 meeting of the Cabinet and later in Parliament. In the schools of Chisinau municipality, medical assistants will examine each child who will enter the institution in the morning. If there are suspected cases of infection, the children will be isolated until the parents come.

In connection with the coronavirus, Moldova’s Embassy France and China suspend/reduce the consular services, while Italy’s Embassy in Chisinau will provide information only phone and on its website.
Before banning flights from Italy or other states to Moldova, the transiting of Moldova by citizens of other states with outbreaks of the COVID-19 could be prohibited, said Igor Dodon.

Alexandru Slusari said Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo could come to Parliament on March 10 to demand to lift the immunity of a number of MPs. “My calculations show that at least three MPs, former members of the Democratic Party, deserve to be stripped of immunity,” he stated. “They spoke about criminal cases started over the bank fraud, the MP corruption case, the case concerning the Press House”.

Last week, the Party of Socialists and the Democratic Party announced the initiation of discussions on the formation of a government coalition and particular meetings between the sides already took place. If the PSRM and PDM do not form a government coalition, the country should get ready for snap elections, stated President Igor Dodon.
