Serious? But how serious?
The number of vehicles in the public transport system of the municipality of Chisinau will be substantially increased by the end of this year, stated mayor general Ion Ceban. According to him, the Chisinau City Hall will bank on its own forces and will assemble trolleybuses and will buy more trolleybuses and buses, but will also accept assistance from foreign partners.
PD knows it will win
Mihail Druță, who was proposed by the PPPDA to be the common candidate for MP of the pro-European and democratic forces in the March 15 elections in Hâncești, will not run in these elections. In a press release posted on Facebook, Mihai Druță said that he intended to run as the common candidate of the PPPDA and the Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) and also of at least two unionist parties. “The DA Platform regrets that the pro-European and national parties preferred to field their own candidate for this constituency without mutual coordination, deviating this way from the principles that ensured success in the parliamentary elections of 2019,” says a press release. Pavel Filip noted that the Democratic Party with Ion Mereuță as a candidate in constituency No. 38 is the only political organization that has definite accomplishments in this region.
Federalization as the Kremlin’s ‘red cloth’ in Chisinau
The EU’s Ambassador in Chisinau Peter Michalko said the federalization of the Republic of Moldova hasn’t been discussed on the platforms of negotiation between Chisinau and Tiraspol. “Our stand in the Transnistrian settlement process was always a principled one and based on sovereignty and territorial integrity... Sovereignty, territorial integrity within the internationally recognized borders, special status for the Transnistrian region. Federalization is not possible now,” stated the EU official.
Barking up the wrong tree
Romania’s Ambassador in Chisinau Daniel Ioniță said there are now different plans, proposals and suggestions that, instead of ensuring greater clarity in the justice sector, generate confusion for the representatives of Romania, foreign experts and the Moldovan citizens. The bill passed through Parliament without waiting for the opinion of the Venice Commission after asking this to pronounce on it and the removal of Viorel Morari from the post of chief of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office generate serious questions.
Court of Auditors, with late regrets
The audit team of the Court of Auditors underlined a series of irregularities that led to the impossibility of determining the value that is to be returned to the state for the conceded assets when the contract expires or is terminated, says the Court of Auditors’ audit report on the public-private partnership contract for the concession of the assets of the state-run Chisinau International Airport. The irregularities start with the feasibility study conducted by the Public Property Agency and were committed at all the implementation stages.
