About 450,000 tonnes of grapes will be processed at industrial level to produce wine
The grape harvest this year is expected to be approximately 700,000 tonnes. About 450,000 tonnes of grapes will be processed at industrial level to make wine, Dumitru Bratco, consultant at the Agroindustrial Agency “Moldova-Vin”, has told Info-Prim Neo.
As many as 19 million decaliters of wine were produced last year from 280,000 tonnes of grapes, the Agency’s data show. The data do not include the volume of home-made wine. The wine companies in 2007 exported about 1 million decaliters of wine to the EU. Romania and Poland were the largest European importers of Moldovan wines. They imported by 300,000 decaliters of wine. The Czech Republic follows next with 144,000 decaliters of wine imported from Moldova.
According to Dumitru Bratco, about 30,000-50,000 tonnes of grapes will be exported this year to Ukraine and Romania. Only the economic enmities that presented contracts signed with partners from the two states to the Agroindustrial Agency “Moldova-Vin” can export wine products. The export price indicated in the contracts must be at least 3 lei per 1 kg of white sorts of grapes and at least 4 lei per 1 kg of red sorts of grapes, Bratco said.
