About 3,000 children vaccinated against smallpox

70 children of the special school nr.7 from the capital were vaccinated on Tuesday, 16 May, within a Program of vaccination against variola. The program is implemented with the support of the Office for Bilateral Affairs of theUS Embassy to Moldova. Within the same program, in this special school 136 children are to benefit of a dental treatement with fluor. US Ambassador Heather M. Hodges, together with American militaries, volunteers of Peace Corps, participated at the event. The action involved only a part of those 2,710 children of 25 schools and orphanages if the villages and towns of Moldova to be vaccinated against pox, and 4,686 children who will benefit of dental treatment. Vaccinations and treatments will be operated on 15-19 May by a group of specialists from North Caroline American state. Medical specialists of the National Guard of North Caroline are involved in the program, two volunteer teachers from the North Caroline University, the Chapel Hill dental school, volunteers of Peace Corps, as well as specialists from Moldova.
