Approximately 1.5 tonnes of food products without certificates of origin or with the use-by date expired will be destroyed by order of the National Food Safety Agency. The products were found in a storehouse located on Armeneasca St in Chisinau as a result of checks carried out by the Agency’s inspectors, IPN reports.
The Agency Saud that 80 inspections were performed at stores in Chisinau during a week. Within these, it was established that six retail outlets worked in the absence of the sanitary-veterinary authorization, seven shops didn’t have registration certificates, while 21 could not present product traceability documents.
In eight grocery stores, there were found products with the use-by date expired. Among other identified irregularities were the non-observance of the product keeping conditions and the absence of the register of complaints.
During the next few days, inspectors of the National Food Safety Agency will visit other shops. All the stores selling food products will be inspected during a month.
