As many as 106,000 people are eligible to vote in the Bashkan (Governor) elections in Gagauzia. The Comrat Election Commission published the preliminary voter rolls for the March 22 elections.
The Commission’s chairman Valentin Cara has told IPN that the residents of Gagauzia can check if they are on the lists. If they do not find themselves there, they should inform the delegated member of the district’s polling place until March 17.
Valentin Cara also said that in the last week’s meeting of the Commission, it was decided to exclude candidate Oleg Kaiky from the electoral race. He submitted an application, asking withdrawing his candidacy. Thus, there are 11 candidates running in the elections now.
The first round of the elections in Gagauzia will take place on March 22. The second round, if it’s necessary, will be held on April 5. Partial elections to choose members of the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia will take place simultaneously with the Bashkan elections.
