A plane crashed and caught fire on the grounds of the "Speranța" recreational base in the town of Vadul lui Vodă. There was only one person on board, the pilot. The charred body of the pilot was discovered by firefighters, according to IPN.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority, the crashed aircraft was an ultra-light model, Socata TB20, registered in Germany with the registration number D-EMRT. The pilot's identity has not yet been officially confirmed.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact causes of the accident.
According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), the 112 emergency service received the call on Sunday at 10:00 AM. The fire broke out after the small plane crashed on the recreational base's grounds. Four rescue and firefighting teams were dispatched to the scene.
The flames completely engulfed the aircraft, which had fallen onto the roof of a one-story building. During the intervention, firefighters found the body of a person inside the plane. IGSU staff managed to contain the fire by 10:18 AM and fully extinguish it by 10:25 AM.
