The libraries of the 1,367 schools of Moldova will receive 8,000 books written by Spiridon Vangheli within the campaign “Books with soul” that was launched by the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM), IPN reports.
The party’s leader Vlad Filat told a news conference that the value of Spiridon Vangheli’s books is enormous. These books make the people better and it is important that more children should read them. “The one who created Guguta showed that the childhood does not have age. I thank him for putting soul in his books and for helping raise new generations,” stated Vlad Filat, adding that this is the first book donation event of the campaign.
PLDM deputy head Liliana Palihovici said this campaign is aimed at contributing to raising people with soul. This would be impossible if the libraries didn’t contain the books of Spiridon Vangheli. “His books hold interest for the children and even cause serious competition to the computer games,” she stated.
Attending the event, Spiridon Vangheli said that since the appearance of his first book in 1962, he has permanently taken a difficult exam before the children as he wanted his books to be read by Americans, Germans, Japanese and other people too. His books were translated into 40 languages and sold in a number of over 2 million copies.
The writer approved of the launched campaign, saying he regrets that many children from rural areas do not have access to his books. Spiridon Vangheli congratulated the children on the start of the school year and urged them to study well.
