612 projects have been approved for funding under the 2024 European Village National Program for a total 2.8 billion lei. The Government will contribute 2.5 billion lei and the remainder will come from the respective local budgets.
“The Government is building well-being here at home, and we will continue to amplify this effort, when we are able to access EU pre-accession funds, among other occasions. This is what we have to focus on”, declared Prime Minister Dorin Recean at the Government meeting.
A majority of projects, 223, are for construction or expansion of water supply or sewer systems. 128 projects are related to renovation and energy efficiency of public buildings, 57 envisage the installation of street lighting, and 30 the installation of energy production systems from renewable sources. There are also 104 construction or rehabilitation projects for buildings providing social or medical services. 70 projects provide for the restoration of specific historical monuments and rural architecture sites.
