Some 65.3% of the flights operated at the Chisinau International Airport landed on time, and 58.4% of the flights took off on time. In this connection, about 15,000 flights operated between January and December 2024 were monitored, IPN reports, referring to a study conducted by the Institute for European Policies and Reforms (IPRE).
According to the data, the best result was recorded in March, when 78.2% of the flights landed on time, and 78.6% took off without delay. On the other hand, the worst results were recorded in July, when only 45.8% of the flights landed on time and 38.5% took off according to the initial schedule.
As for airlines, Fly One operated 31% of all the flights at the Chisinau International Airport, holding the position of leader. HiSky operated 20% of the flights, followed by Turkish Airlines with 10%, Wizz Air with 7% and TAROM with 6%. It is noteworthy that, in December 2024, Wizz Air increased the number of operated flights, accounting for 17% of all the airport flights.
According to the IPRE, there are significant differences between punctuality at landing and take-off, a phenomenon that was also mentioned in the previous monitoring reports. Foreign companies operating at the Chisinau International Airport, although their aircraft frequently land on time, tend to experience considerable delays at departure. This discrepancy can be influenced by local operational factors or external conditions, the quoted source said.
