The commission for budget, economy, finance and public patrimony (CBFPP) of the Chisinau Municipal Council turned down Saturday a demand of the directorate general for education, science, youth and sport (DGESTS) on allocation of 100 million lei for full and current renovation of schools in the municipality. CBFPP gave green light to a draft decision on allocation of 22 million lei foreseen in the 2006 local budget for this purpose. DGESTS director Alexandu Roman has stated to Info-Prim Neo that the money will be allocated from the municipal budget but this amount is low for settlement of current problems related to full repairs. Although the local budget foresaw large amounts for repairs in the past years, the Chisinau Municipal Council did not approve them meanwhile because of the lack of money, Roman added. The chairman of the commission for education, social protection and healthcare, Vasile Parasca, had earlier stated to Info-Prim Neo that 100 million lei is needed to cover the municipal budget arrears raised in the past years, so that the administrations of pre-university institutions face big problems at this chapter at present. Parasca expressed hope that the money will be allocated this year and specialised firms will be fully repair the educational institutions immediately after the end of school year.
