37 contravention cases started after Oct. 23 protest

The police said that six wanted persons were identified among the participants in the protest mounted by the Shor Party on October 23. As a result of the protest, 37 contravention cases were started over different public order violations, IPN reports.

According to the General Police Inspectorate, a number of athletically built young people with suspect behavior, who could not say why they were there, were removed from the crowd. Also, five persons who used violence against the Police were taken away. In four cases, the persons attending the rally possessed banned objects. During the protest, pyrotechnic objects were thrown under police cars.

“The police ordered to examine each participant in the protest staged in central Chisinau given the antisocial behavior (aggressiveness, excessive alcohol use, state of anxiety, suspect conduct) witnessed among the protesters, which could endanger social stability,” the Inspectorate said in a press release. The police also said that actions will be taken to examine the tents, the protest venue and the surroundings so as to prevent the holding of dangerous objects and pyrotechnic products that can endanger life.

The Shor Party said that “over 50,000 people dissatisfied with the actions of the PAS regime and Maia Sandu” were to protest in the Great National Assembly Square. As they weren’t allowed to protest in the central square, the protesters went to the Prosecutor General’s Office where they put up tents. For their part, the Police said the protest downtown involved about 3,500 persons.
