35 oncologists to examine population in districts

In the course of February, 35 oncologists will examine citizens in the country’s localities. These formed a number of multidisciplinary teams as part of the campaign “A doctor for you!” in connection with the World Cancer Day that is annually celebrated on February 4, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, the multidisciplinary teams consist of mammologists, pulmonologists, gynecologists, urologists and proctologists. During February 4-8, the teams will travel to Edineț, Briceni, Dondușeni, Ocnița, Florești and Drochia. The doctors will visit Călărași, Nisporeni, Rezina, Telenești, Șoldănești, Glodeni, Sângerei, Fălești and Râșcani between February 11 and 15.

In Cimișlia, Leova, Basarabeasca, Anenii-Noi, Ștefan Vodă, Strășeni, Criuleni and Dubăsari, the doctors will provide consultations during February 18-22. The multidisciplinary teams will be in the southern districts of Cantemir, Vulcănești and Taraclia between February 25 and March 1.

Secretary general of state at the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection Boris Gîlca told a news conference that the oncologists will examine the population in the localities with a higher cancer incidence rate. The measures are taken to detect the disease early and to educate the population on disease prevention.
