A 46-year-old man, who arrived in Chisinau by a flight from Istanbul, was transporting 317 jewels, presumed to be made of silver, without declaring them to the customs authorities. Although he chose the green lane "nothing to declare", the control carried out by customs officials revealed the jewelry hidden in his luggage, IPN reports.
The passenger is a non-resident and risks contravention penalty. All the jewels were seized and sent for examination in order to determine their value.
The Customs Service warns that the goods must be declared according to the law, and failure to comply with this obligation leads to penalties and confiscation of goods.
