On the occasion of the 175th anniversary of the poet Mihai Eminescu, the Romanian Academy and the Academy of Sciences of Moldova launched the initiative to declare 2025 the "Eminescu Year" on both banks of the Prut. The decision was taken by the management of both academies at a joint meeting, IPN reports.

The program includes a series of cultural activities and events. On January 15, 2025, the date of Eminescu's birth, a session of the two academies will take place, with the participation of the correspondent and honorary members (physical and online).

Research dedicated to the Eminescu Year will be carried out within the International Decade of Science for Sustainable Development, initiated by the United Nations General Assembly on August 25, 2023 and launched in Romania on November 12, 2024.

Congresses and educational events, the special edition of the World Congress of Eminescologists and the Summer School for young researchers are planned.

Over the next year, new editions of Eminescu's work will be published in Romanian and in 85 other languages into which the poet's work has been translated.

The post offices will print and sell stamps and envelopes on the occasion of the 175th anniversary of Mihai Eminescu's birth.

In the promotion of the events, in addition to the authorities in Chisinau and Bucharest, UNESCO will also become involved.
