Two hundred gynecological offices from 71 primary healthcare institutions across the country have been equipped with high-performance medical equipment with the support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The modernization aims to provide quality sexual and reproductive health services for both women in Moldova and Ukrainian refugees. The investment in equipping the offices amounts to approximately 12 million lei, IPN reports.

The Ministry of Health states that each office has been provided with a standard set of medical equipment necessary for monitoring pregnant women, antenatal care, and postnatal care for mothers and newborns. The equipment also supports family planning services, including access to modern contraceptive methods, as well as cervical cancer screening and cytological testing.

The equipment provided to each medical institution enhances the quality of medical services and facilitates the work of family doctors and their teams. Each set includes a gynecological examination chair, a mobile examination lamp, an adjustable medical bed, a patient step stool, a mobile screen, a pelvimeter, and a stethoscope.

Additionally, the equipment package includes tools for postnatal care of mothers and babies, such as a portable hemoglobin meter, an electronic newborn scale, a baby measuring instrument, a maternal scale, and a professional wheeled blood pressure monitor.

The selection of the gynecological offices considered the geographical distribution of medical institutions, the coverage area, the number of registered patients on the family doctor's list, and the need for equipment in each facility.

The modernization of the 200 gynecological examination offices was carried out by UNFPA with financial assistance from the Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations and the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration.
