20 firefighters left for Greece for staff rotation in pre-positioning mission

Another 20 firefighters, who make up the ground forest firefighting team of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, were sent off to the Hellenic Republic. They are to replace the first 20 firefighters who have completed their mission and will return to the country on August 1, IPN reports.

Between July 30 and August 15, the team of ground forest firefighters of the Ministry of the Interior’s Inspectorate (GFFFv-MD) will be deployed in Nea Makri region to extinguish vegetation fire outbreaks and forest fires.

Between July 16 and August 15, the team of firefighters from the Republic of Moldova has participated in the pre-positioning mission within the European Program for the Pre-positioning of Forest Firefighting Teams in the Hellenic Republic, NEA Makri region, organized within the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. The program is financed by the European Union, and a part of the costs will be covered by the Republic of Moldova. The mission is managed by the Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations, with the main objective of improving response capacity and interoperability between intervention equipment and teams from different European countries.
