Anatolie Viniciuc was named interim director of the Single National Emergency Phone Service 112. He previously served as deputy director of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, IPN reports.
Under an order made by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Anatolie Viniciuc will take over his duties on April 8 and will serve until a permanent director or another interim director is appointed, but for not more than 12 months.
The position of director of the 112 Service was vacated by Liviu Oboroc at the request of Prime Minister Dorin Recean following the incident that happened at the end of November in Causeni district, when two people were found dead in a car that got stuck in snowdrifts. Then, emergency response teams arrived at the scene only the next day, when the persons were already dead. The man and relatives of the couple called the emergency number 112 for several times, asking for help, but rescuers arrived only when a passerby announced the death of the two. The police opened an inquiry and the Prosecutor’s Office started a criminal case to examine interinstitutional interaction. The case hasn’t been solved yet.
