Nearly 10,300 cases of acute upper respiratory tract infections were recorded between February 10 and 16, with around 60% of them occurring in children. The National Agency for Public Health (ANSP) noted that morbidity was at a moderate intensity level, but it marked a 7% increase compared to the previous week, IPN reports.
According to ANSP data, 390 cases of seasonal flu were registered last week, showing a 20% increase compared to the previous week. The majority of flu cases—285—were reported in Chișinău municipality. Since the beginning of the monitoring period, from September 30, 2024, to February 16, 2025, 2,025 flu cases have been recorded.
Additionally, between February 10 and 16, four cases of COVID-19 were reported, reflecting a 43% decrease from the previous week. One case was registered in children under 14 years old.
In this context, public health specialists recommend that the population maintain physical distance, practice personal hygiene, and disinfect hands regularly. It is also advised to seek medical attention when experiencing flu-like or respiratory infection symptoms, avoid crowded places, and wear masks on public transportation and in crowded areas.
