Teaching practice must be rethought so that it does not remain a simple formality, Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun said at the Municipal Teachers’ Forum. The official announced that about 100 schools will be identified nationwide for internships, and the entire process will be monitored by the Ministry of Education and Research, IPN reports.

“What we do in the classroom matters a lot - the subject and the knowledge we transmit to the students. But it is, perhaps, even more important how we do this, how we build a school environment that transmits through the daily experience that the student has, the respect for themselves as personalities, their involvement in democratic processes, how we make so that the declared integrity to which I think we all subscribe reflects the daily reality that the student sees. Our basic exhortation is that what we declare should be in congruence with what we do,” said the minister.

Andrei Pavaloi, deputy head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sports of Chisinau, said that quality education will be the basic notion for the 2024-2025 school year. “We all have to make an effort to work on the quality of the educational process in the next year of study and, when we meet next August or September, in the reports that we will have in front of you, we could come up with particular figures that will make us happy because it is a joint effort, an effort of ours that I want we to assume together,” stated Andrei Pavaloi, addressing the participants in the forum.

Deputy mayor of Chisinau Angela Kutasevich said that the Municipal Teachers’ Forum is an opportunity to identify innovative solutions and share good practices that will contribute to the creation of a stronger and more efficient educational system. The open dialogue and close cooperation between teachers, local authorities and educational partners is the key to success in achieving the common goal: quality education – access to every child in the municipality of Chisinau.

The Chisinau City Hall said that about 400 teachers and school managers of the municipal education system attended the forum. The event included specialized workshops, discussion panels, meetings in “expert opinion” format, with the presentation of practical cases.
