Second world congress of Gagauzians opens in Comrat
The second world congress of Gagauzians begins in Comrat on August 18 and will last by August 20. It will be attended by representatives of the Gagauz communities from Turkey, Romania, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Russia and other countries, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The participants will discuss the issue of the Gagauz language and will consider opening a cultural center of the Gagauzians from all over the world.
“Given that the Gagauz people number about 200,000 persons, the congress is an important event for preserving the ethnicity and it will strengthen the economic and cultural relations,” the organizational committee says in a communiqué.
The first world congress of Gagauzians took place in 2006.
