Zinaida Grecheanyi transmits message from Igor Dodon at CIS Assembly

In her speech from the rostrum of the CIS Parliamentary Assembly in Saint Petersburg, the chairwoman of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova Zinaida Grechenyi transmitted a message from the Moldovan President Igor Dodon, noting that Moldova considers the participation in the CIS is important and will continue the active cooperation with its interstate bodies.

Moldova is not represented by an official delegation at this meeting. The Party of Socialists’ delegation takes part in the event at its own expense, IPN reports.

Reading the President’s message, Zinaida Grecheanyi said the CIS played a decisive role in maintaining the relations between the republics of the former Soviet Union and in resuming the integrationist processes in the post-Soviet area. The CIS Interparliamentary Assembly became a platform for exchanging experience and looking for solutions to pressing problems for the MPs of the CIS member states.

The decision not to take part in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States with an official delegation was taken by the legislature’s Standing Bureau. Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu told the press that following the note sent earlier to the Russian authorities and the abuses stipulated in it and given that no official answer came from Moscow so far, the participation by the Moldovan delegation in the CIS Parliamentary Assembly is not welcome.
