Zinaida Grecheanyi to President: We encourage you to hasten dissolution of Parliament

The head of the parliamentary group of the Party of Socialists Zinaida Grecheanyi sent a letter to President Nicolae Timofti, asking him to make use of his constitutional right to hasten the process of dissolving the legislative body and to call early elections this year, IPN reports.

“Mister President, in response to your invitation to have consultations to designate a candidate for premiership, I inform you in the name of the Socialist group I represent that we will not accept your invitation. Our political position on the situation in the country remains unchanged. This was stated in the previous meetings we had with you. We consider that the Republic of Moldova became a captured state and the capturing process started immediately after the declared pro-European forces came to power in 2009,” Zinaida Grecheanyi wrote in the letter.

The letter also reads that the Socialist consider the early legislative elections are the best solution in the current circumstances as they will help restart the political government in Moldova. “We encourage you, Mister President, to use your constitutional right and hasten the process of dissolving the current legislature and call early parliamentary elections this year. This will be not only an act of political courage, but also a proof that you fulfilled your duty as the head of state. It is the only method of rapidly freeing the state from captivity and ridding of oligarchy and political corruption,” said the politician.

The coming days, Nicolae Timofti is to nominate a new candidate for Prime Minister after having consultations with the parliamentary groups. The premiership is claimed both by the Liberal Democratic Party and the Democratic Party.
