Zimbru optimistic before return game against CSKA Sofia

Zimbru and CSKA Sofia will play the return game of the UEFA Europa League second qualifying round in Chisinau on July 24. The first-leg match in Bulgaria ended in a 1-1 draw and Zimbru can qualify for the next stage even by a 0-0 tie, IPN reports.

“I want the stadium to be packed because we will stage a celebration for the Moldovan football fans. We think only about qualification,” Zimbru coach Oleg Kubarev told a news conference before the match.

“We are ready for the game. We will make everything possible to eliminate CSKA Sofia from the competition,” said the captain of Zimbru Iulian Erhan.

“It doesn’t matter whether I score or not. It is important that the team go on,” said Serghei Alexeev, who scored the goal for Zimbru in Sofia.

CSKA Sofia is also longing for victory. “We must score at any cost. I’m convinced that we will succeed. We will resist the pressure and will qualify for the third round,” said the coach of CSKA Stoycho Mladenov.

The encounter between Zimbru and CSKA will be played on July 24, starting at 8pm. The match will be controlled by a team of referees from Germany, headed by Marco Fritz.
