China’s Ambassador to Moldova Zhang Yinghong said the signing of the Free Trade Agreement between the two states will increase the competiveness of the Moldovan products on the Chinese market. The Moldovan products have huge potential on the Chinese market, with the wines, walnuts and honey being in great demand there. China has been near the Republic of Moldova in the fight against COVID-19 and offered six lots of humanitarian aid to Moldova since the start of the pandemic, IPN reports.
The diplomat underlined the friendly bilateral relations, saying China has supported financially a number of important projects in Moldova.
“Being a good friend and a reliable partner, in time China has offered considerable assistance to the Republic of Moldova. For example, it helped build the traffic monitoring system in Chisinau and purchase the customs inspection system of the Chisinau International Airport. Furthermore, the project to build the solar power plant in Criuleni is implemented with Chinua’s support,” Ambassador Zhang Yinghong stated in the program “Diplomatic Dimension” on Moldova 1 channel.
He also said that the commercial relations between the two states could intensify after the Free Trade Agreement is signed as China is a huge market from which Moldova can benefit.
“We cannot underestimate the export potential of the agricultural and secondary products, such as honey, walnuts and sunflower seeds. When the Free Trade Agreement between China and the Republic of Moldova is signed, the competitiveness of the Moldovan products on the Chinese market will increase further,” stated Zhang Yinghong.
He noted that Beijing has been near the Republic of Moldova since the start of the pandemic, helping the country with expertise in the management of the health crisis and with batches of medical equipment offered as humanitarian aid.
“Since the COVID-19 appeared, China and the Republic of Moldova have actively strengthened cooperation in the medical sphere and experts from the two countries organized videoconferences and shared their experience in controlling and preventing the pandemic. China offered the Republic of Moldova six lots of humanitarian aid. China also intends to offer other assistance so as to support the Republic of Moldova in the fight against the pandemic,” stated Zhang Yinghong.
China was the first country that provided assistance to Moldova immediately after the COVID-19 pandemic started. On March 17, 2020, Beijing offered Chisinau the first lot of humanitarian aid that consisted of 1,500 test kits for detecting SARS-COV-2.
