Fine of 6,000 lei and withdrawal of the driver’s license for a period of one year is the punishment imposed by the Ciocana District Court on the driver to blame for the June accident that involved the members of Zdob si Zdub band. Dissatisfied with the too mild punishment, the band appealed against the decision to the Chisinau Court of Appeals, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The driver was under the influence and we avoided a head-on collision only due to the prompt reaction of our driver,” the band’s director Igor Danga said in a communiqué. The artists suffered injuries, the vehicle cannot be repaired, the musical instruments were destroyed and the concerts were postponed. The insurance companies have not yet paid damages and the band still does not have a bus for tours, the communiqué says. The members of the band demand that the judge make a fair final decision so that “the irresponsible drivers receive appropriate punishment. Otherwise, we can officially declare that the legal system is indeed corrupt,” Zdob si Zdub said. As a result of the June accident, the members of the band received cuts and bruises. Sound engineer Ion Moraru was injured the worst. He got a clavicle fractured and five cuts in the head. He had been in hospital for about a month, according to Zdob si Zdub.
