Athlete Zalina Marghiev took the eighth position at the World Athletics Championship held in Beijing, in hammer throw. In the final, she scored the result of 72.38 meters, IPN reports.

In the qualifying rounds, Marghiev scored a better result, of 72.99 meters. Polish athlete Anita Wlodarczyk became champion with the result of 80.85 meters. The other winners are China’s Wenxiu Zhang (76.33 m) and France’s Alexandra Tabernier (74.02 m).

The World Athletics Championship involved three more Moldovan athletes. Roman Prodius ranked 31st in marathon, Serghei Marghiev – 23rd in hammer throw, while Marina Nikishenko – 25th in hammer throw.
