The freestyle wrestling tournament in memory of Zaharia Cotruta reached its tenth edition. This time the competition was held at the Chisinau-based club “Olimpia”.

About 200 children from all over the country competed in 12 weight class, both for boys and girls, at the Olympic reserves training center. Those from “Olimpia” club emerged victorious. The wrestlers from Criuleni and Stefan Voda ranked second and third.

“The previous editions of the tournament in memory of my father Zaharia Cotruta were held in Stauceni. We decided to stage the jubilee competition in Chisinau. We didn’t expect the tournament will involve such a large number of contestants,” Alexei Cotruta, president of the Moldovan Rugby Federation, stated for IPN.
