The young swing of “Moldova Noastra” Alliance (AMN) pleads for annulment of visa system and free travel of Moldovan citizens to all the European countries. An action in this regard took place on Tuesday, February 13, in Chisinau, concurrently with similar actions organised in 27 cities and 23 countries in Europe. The idea of some concomitant actions, during which young people offer option to liquidate visa system, belongs to the European Liberal Youth Organisation, which the youth organisation of AMN joins as well. Vice chairman of AMN Youth Organisation Andrei Hâncu told Info-Prim Neo that the given action is motivated by the young people’s desire to increase public awareness of the fact that the countries remaining out of the EU can not be marginalised concerning their desire to freely travel, study abroad, establish close relations with the European youth. “After introducing visas for Romania, Moldovan citizens remained alienated after the European wall set up on the Prut River”, Hâncu said. As he says, last week in all the European countries outside EU, were signed petitions which were submitted to the Council of Europe revealing that young people are affected by the visa regime. The petitions will be presented to CoE on February 28, as part of a conference. The Organisation’s head Eugen Spataru stated that after introducing visas for Romania, Moldovan population feels as a prisoner in its own country. “Youth in Moldova is pessimist as regards the negotiations carried on by the authorities with the European officials, for the reason that they impose the Readmission Agreement, but this means that millions of citizens that are abroad have to return home, which is impossible”, Spataru said. He thinks the state’s authorities do nothing to facilitate visa regime by opening the representations of the European countries, but was hopeful that the young people’s message was heard in many European countries, which made common cause to annul the visa regime. AMN leader Serafim Urecheanu told Info-Prim Neo that the present situation of Moldova makes the young people to protect their right to the free travel throughout Europe, part of which Moldova is historically, geographically and geopolitically. AMN MP Leonid Bujor told the news agency that, despite the affirmations of the country’s leadership about “the European vector”, no document that would confirm this option was submitted to the European Parliament. In this respect, AMN has recently launched the initiative of submitting Moldova’s official application for accession to the EU. AMN Youth Organisation has over 6000 members, of which 2000 are from Chisinau.
