Youth organisation considers Veaceslav Iordan’s programme to be inspired by the stringent needs of the young generation

The National Union of Students and Youth of Moldova (UNSTM) believes that the proposals included in the political programme of the candidate for mayor Veaceslav Iordan are inspired by the stringent needs of the youth residing in the capital city. At the same time, the organisation expressed its indignation at what they call the “extremist attitude of the president of the Liberal Party, Mihai Ghimpu, towards the youth within the party he leads.” Veaceslav Stati, UNSTM member, told a press conference on Wednesday, June 13, that Iordan had meetings with the youth several times, presenting a programme which satisfies their needs, with regards to free urban transportation for students, refurbishment of night-clubs, and establishing connections and entertainment for students in other cities. UNSTM also believes that Dorin Chirtoaca’s programme represents merely general declarations. At the same time, the organisation expressed its worries about the existing tensions within the PL between their youth wing and the leader of the party, Mihai Ghimpu. They have recalled in that context the statement made by some youth members, once supporters of the PL, who left “because of Ghimpu”. UNSTM calls on all young people to take a wise decision in the June 17 elections by analysing the electoral platforms and the promises made by both candidates.
