Youth NGOs encouraged to apply for grants

The youth nongovernmental organizations can take part in a program of grants within a project that was launched by the Ministry of Youth and Sport on January 16, Info-Prim Neo reports. Logistic and financial support will be given to the youth initiatives, programs and projects on a contest basis. The contest is open to NGOs that implement youth initiatives with impact on the youth policy at regional and national level. Minister of Youth Ion Cebanu told a news conference that grants will be given first of all for projects that promote the participation of young people in community. Financial support will be offered for organizing congresses, conferences, experience exchanges, etc. The minister said that the youth organizations that possess co-financing, partnership agreements with different national and international donors and institutions and can justify a contribution of at least 20% of the total value of the project are encouraged to submit offers. The projects will be assessed by a commission within the grants program. Financing agreements will be signed with the selected NGOs within the limit of the amounts approved by the commission. The total budget of the project is 4 million lei. The deadline for submissions is February 3, 2012, 5pm. The applications and the other required documents must be submitted to the Ministry of Youth and Sport based on 162 Stefan cel Mare si Sfant Blvd., office 815. The documents in electronic format will not be accepted.
