The youth wing of the Party of Socialists of Moldova (PSRM) – the Youth Guard – demanded that Minister of the Interior Alexei Roibu resign in a protest staged in front of the building of the Ministry of the Interior on May 22, Info-Prim Neo report According to a communiqué from the PSRM, the Youth Guard prepared for the minister a model of resignation that they wanted to give him, but the door was locked. The young people said the Ministry of the Interior is unable to keep the situation in the country under control and is afraid of its own people. Thus, the minister should quit. According to the protesters, the efficiency of the law enforcement bodies will increase if the Ministry is taken over by a competent person who knows his/her job. The PSRM said the protests were mounted following the rise in the crime rate in Moldova.
