Youth Guard prepares program for May 9

The youth movements Youth Guard and Ileri, alongside the Youth Government, will carry out a series of activities to celebrate victory over fascism in World War II on May 9. They will distribute Saint George Ribbons, film a video with veterans and look after graves of soldiers killed in battle, Info-Prim Neo reports. On April 27, the youth wing of the Party of Socialists Youth Guard launched the Saint George Ribbons campaign within which such ribbons will be shared out free of charge in all the towns and district centers. The campaign is conducted every year in memory of those who died for peace. On April 29, the members of the Youth Guard will start to lay out graves of soldiers killed in war, which are situated in Chisinau. The first event of the kind was recently held in Basarabeasca and will soon take place in Balti and other districts of Moldova. Marina Radvan, a representative of the Youth Guard, said that they intend to launch a new project called “9 Veterans”. Within this project, there will be made a video where nine veterans will tell the young generation about their sufferings and experiences during the Second World War. There will be printed the Memory Book that will include these stories. The activities will end with a rally on June 22, when it is celebrated the Day of Remembrance and Pain. It will involve the Youth Guard of United Russia and other youth organizations from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, and Moldova. Nina Dimoglo, the representative of Ileri, said that a giant ribbon will be carried through places of historical importance for World War II in every country. Those who want will be able to see the ribbon and put their signatures on it. It will be left for a day at a museum in Chisinau and then returned to the place from where it set off.
