A Youth Friendly Center called “Accept” was set up within the Centru Local Medical Association in Chisinau. This will provide medical services that will include psycho-social assistance aimed at preventing, early detecting, treating, rehabilitating psycho-socially and supporting young people in difficulty, IPN reports.

The Chisinau City Hall said the Center’s specialists will take into account the individual characteristics of the young people based on the following principles: respect, benevolence and confidentiality. The consultations will be multidisciplinary in character and each young person will benefit from free services.

The authorities aim to reduce the number of people with sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV and hepatitis, by comprehensively addressing the needs of young people who face difficulties, and the number of cases of illegal or late abortion. Another goal is to reduce the mental health problems deriving from alcoholism, drug taking and smoking and the psycho-emotional or eating disorders and disorders of pubertal development.
