Young women hurt in Anenii Noi traffic accident still in intensive care

The two women aged 23 and 24, who were injured in the road accident near Todiresti village of Anenii Noi district, remain in intensive care. The young woman who lost her child and husband in the accident is connected to a medical ventilator.

Contacted by IPN, press officer of the Emergency Medicine Institute Petru Cravet said the young woman suffered surgery on the leg. Her state later worsened and she was connected to a mechanical ventilator. The state of the other young woman is serious, but stable.

Press officer of the Anenii Noi Police Inspectorate Silvia Vetcu has told IPN that it was preliminary established that the driver of the Audi car that collided head-on with a Dacia car was speeding. A technical vehicle examination will be carried out, but this can last for several months. A criminal case was started over violation of the road traffic rules.

The accident occurred in the morning of January 15 and claimed five lives, including of a child aged one year and a half. An Audi car with a Transnistrian license number that was driven by a 33-year-old inhabitant of Geamana village was speeding when he headed for Chisinau and lost control of the vehicle. This collided head-on with a Dacia car driven by a man aged 38 from Gura Bicului village. The driver of the Audio and his passenger, ex-player, footballer and referee Ion Clipa, died on the spot. The other three victims who perished were a 22-year-old man, his daughter and the driver of the Dacia car.
