A 23-year-old woman from a village of Briceni district was found guilty of domestic violence and was sentenced to four years and six months in jail after she repeatedly beat her mother, IPN reports, quoting the Prosecutor General’s Office.

According to the victim, her daughter abused alcohol and systematically beat her while under the influence of alcohol. The last time she beat her, she hit her with a mug in the eye and this started to bleed. She didn’t report her daughter to the police earlier as she didn’t want to cause trouble to the young woman and because she felt pity for her grandson aged only one year.

The culprit fully admitted her guilt and the criminal case was this way examined according to a simplified procedure.

The sentence is not final and can be challenged in the Balti Appeals Court within 15 days.
