A girl aged 20 from Râșcani district was placed under arrest for 30 days on charges of sexual exploitation of a teenage girl aged 17 in Chisinau, IPN reports. The Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases said the accused profited from the girl’s vulnerability and recruited her to provide sexual services for money at the start of 2020.

According to the prosecutors, the victim was recruited through a social networking site. The young woman persuaded her to take drugs and have sex with clients who called after seeing Internet announcements that contained pictures of the teenage girl. The two girls provided sexual services in places where the clients asked or in the apartment rented by the two.

The young woman took all the money, arguing it is payment for rent, food and drugs.

Legal action was taken over trafficking in children that carries a penalty of 15 to 20 years in jail or life.

The victim was offered psychological assistance.
