A woman aged 34 from Căușeni district lost the battle with the novel coronavirus. The woman, who suffered also from other diseases, was receiving treatment at the Căușeni District Hospital, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, the young woman is among the nine victims who succumbed to COVID-19 on January 10. The death toll from COVID-19 now stands at 3,139.

The number of infections with the novel coronavirus rose to 149,391 after 298 new cases were reported on January 10. Of the new infections, one was imported from the UK.

As many as 228 persons of the 2,540 hospitalized patients confirmed with COVID-19 are in a very serious state and 49 of them were put on a ventilator.

A number of 4,974 persons with mild forms of COVID-19 are receiving treatment at home, while 23,770 persons are self-isolating at home.
