The Government is offering young veterinarians a one-time payment equivalent to 15 national average salaries and other forms of cost-of-living support in a bid to ease the acute shortage of such specialists.

Eligible are the graduates of relevant higher education institutions who will take veterinary jobs for at least two years in both urban and rural areas, except for the cities of Chisinau and Balti.

The 15 average salary handout will be paid in three installments. Also, beneficiaries will be entitled to rental cost compensations or free housing offered by the local authorities. There are also monthly compensations available for 30kW/hour worth of electricity and annual compensations for the cost of a cubic meter of fuel wood and a tonne of coal, even for those with gas-burning boilers.
