Young trade unionists to inform people in northern Moldova about decent work

The Youth Council of the National Confederation of Trade Unions of Moldova will carry out an awareness-raising campaign themed “Decent work through respected rights!” in a number of settlements in northern Moldova. The campaign forms part of the activities staged by the Confederation this week, on the occasion of the World Day for Decent Work that is marked on October 7.

The campaign will be conducted between October 8 and 11. The Confederation’s press officer Tatiana Marcu has told IPN that the event is organized annually in different regions of the country. Last year it was staged in settlements in the central districts.

The goal of the campaign is to inform the population about their rights related to labor relations, methods of protecting them and the role of trade unions in the given process. Representatives of the Youth Council will distribute informative brochures centering on these subjects and will present the steps taken by the Confederation to ensure the employees’ right to decent work. The campaign will start in Orhei town on October 8. Afterward, the young people will travel to Soroca, Drochia, Edinet, and Briceni, while on the last day will be in Balti.

Tatiana Marcu said that ten young trade unionists will disseminate information. The people in 90% of the country’s districts were already informed about decent work, but will be yet re-informed within the current campaign and the future campaigns.
