Young specialists unpopular among employers

Young specialists are unpopular among employers. Statistics show that in 2001-2006 their number did not exceed 15% of the total number of university graduates and 29-49% of colleges. This data were provided by the deputy minister of Economy and Commerce Sergiu Sanciuc during a Government session concerning the training of the necessary number of skilled specialists. During the meeting it was mentioned that recent years experience of applying a unique plan of enrolling university students, pupils of state professional and vocational schools, as well as students of secondary state professional and vocational schools, have a positive growth effect over employment, especially in the important branches of economy. “It is not proper for the development of economy to have one specialist with professional and vocational specialty for every 10 students with university degree”, remarked Prime-Minister Vasile Tarlev during a conference. He ordered fulfilling of a thorough analysis and a concept for developing the state’s higher education system for a medium term. At the same time the prime-minister requested the creation of a mechanism that would attract directors from the real sphere of economy to train and educate specialists that they require.
