Members of the Youth Organization of the People’s Party of Moldova (PPRM) Friday distributed an alleged contract between the people and the officials to the MPs, asking that they make a commitment with eight priorities to the people. The flashmob meeting was staged in front of the Palace of the Republic before the Parliament’s sitting, IPN reports.
The young people called on the MPs to undertake priorities that refer to political stability, education, elimination of corruption, the country’s development program and other aspects. If the state officials do not respect the contract, they must resign.
“The people know their obligations and demand that their rights be observed, but the functionaries forgot about their obligations,” said Ian Lisnevschi, chairman of the Youth Organization of the PPRM. According to him, the eight points defined as the people’s priorities are present in any election platform and apply to all the parties represented in Parliament.
Most of the lawmakers passed by the group of young people impassively. Many of them said they cannot sign a contact without reading it. “Their attitude actually shows the situation in the country,” said Iunona Grini, a member of the PPRM.
Among the few MPs who agreed to sign the contract was Stella Jantuan, of the Democratic faction. She voiced hope that governance will improve after the new Government is installed. “This is the main commitment,” she said.
The flashmob meeting forms part of a series of protests mounted by the young members of the PPRM.
