Young members of several Liberal parties assumed the tasks of demonstrating to Europe that Moldova’s place is in the European family and that the residents want Moldova to join the European organizations. The first step to confirm this desideratum will be the celebration of Europe Day on May 9. The statement was made by representatives of the young wings of the National Liberal Party (PNL), the Liberal-Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) and the European Action Movement (MAE) at a news conference, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the leader of the PNL youth organization Diana Crudu, the party put forward the idea of joining the young members of different parties with European orientation with the aim of telling Europe in unison that there is a force that really wants Moldova to be among the EU member states. The young people do not want to tolerate the insincere and incoherent policy promoted by the Communist administration that is unable to draw Moldova closer to the EU. “The European states proved unity and verticality and received logistic and financial support from the EU partners. We do not want to emigrate to be in Europe. We want Moldova to join the European family,” the cited source said. The MAE representative Ion Cerchez said that the party joined PNL in its intention to celebrate Europe Day together because the party’s strategy envisions integration into the EU. On May 9, representatives of MAE from 33 zonal organizations will come together for a forum organized to celebrate the Europe Day at the Organ Hall. Iurie Chiorescu, of the young wing of PLDM, said that with the “integration” policy of the Communists, Moldova became a laggard in Europe in a number of areas, including the observance of human rights, the freedom of the press, justice, and eradication of corruption. The Communists eloquently showed that they do not want Moldova to become part of the EU, even if they permanently declare that their aim is Europe. The cited source said that the fact that no activity dedicated to the Year of Youth was organized in the first five months of this year speaks about the double standards of the government. No message was launched to show that the government supports the youth. The young people said that another example of the Communists’ double standards is the content of the May 9 celebrations. While the whole Europe marks the Day of a United Europe, of tolerance and reconciliation of peoples, the Moldovan Government celebrates “the victory in the Great Patriotic War” by pomp typical of the cold war, while the dignitaries use aggressive and xenophobic elements in their speeches.” The participants in the news conference, the Democratic youth, called on all the political parties, the civil society and the youth political organizations to acknowledge the necessity of the youth getting involved in the reconstruction and modernization of Moldova and in the European integration process.
