Young people with initiative have better chances of finding employment
About 100 third and fourth year students of Chisinau universities received additional training in planning the career between October 10 and November 18 and will be able to find a job after they get certificates for graduating courses as part of the programme Next Step 2007.
Project coordinator Sergiu Matei told a news conference on November 20 that Next Step 2007 is an education project of the public organization AIESEC Moldova, which aims to facilitate young people’s access to employment in the largest companies of the country. The students that took part in the course could be employed by the project partners Sun Communications, Avon, Indigo Ogilvy, Metro, Leogrand, Continental, Trimetrica, MoldData, Green Hills, Pizza House.
The young people were trained in Job Hunting, Leadership, Project Management, Public Speaking, Time Management, Team Work, Selling Techniques, and Personal Vision. The training courses were held on the weekend. English was the communication language and its knowledge was an obligatory condition for participation. The courses were delivered by international experts from Thailand, Turkey and the U.S.
Eighty students that participated in the project last year were employed by the partner firms. The organizers plan to run similar training courses for Moldovan students next year too.
Sergiu Matei said that in the near future, AIESEC Moldovawill implement another project called Business Start. The second- fifth year students of the Moldovan universities will be instructed how to start a business. The best business plans will be examined by a jury composed of managers of a number of companies. They could decide to finance some of the best projects.
