The traders selling tobacco products will have to obligatorily ask the young buyers to show the identification papers so as to be sure that they are 18. The Chisinau Municipal Council on March 12 adopted a series of relevant changes to the regulations concerning the retailing of tobacco products on the territory of Chisinau municipality. The legislation bans the sale of cigarettes to minors, Info-Prim Neo reports. The changes oblige the traders to put information about the prohibition against selling tobacco articles to people under the age of 18 in a visible place. They must also post information about the size of fines for not obeying this provision. If the buyer refuses to show the identity card or another identification paper at the seller’s request, the seller must not sell cigarettes to the buyer. The amendments were approved by the votes of 42 municipal councilors.
