Young people familiarized with programming within first EU Code Week in Moldova

More than 150 school and university students enriched their knowledge of programming within the EU Code Week in Moldova that was staged for the first time, under the auspices of the EU Delegation to Moldova. The event is held annually in the EU and non-EU member states, IPN reports.

At international level, the EU Code Week attracted the support of coding and education movements like CoderDojo and Rails Girls and of major tech and IT companies such as Facebook, Microsoft, Rovio, SAP, Oracle and Liberty Global as well as the European Schoolnet and the Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs.

The EU Code Week was staged on October 11-17. In Moldova, there were organized a number of workshops for school and university students. Attending the event held to close to Code Week, Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Pirkka Tapiola said the IT sector is growing younger as the people start to show interest in computers at an earlier age. He noted that coding helps crate workplaces, while the specialists from the field are always in demand on the labor market.
