Young people are interested in changes at local level as they want to work at home

The young people can contribute to the improvement of the living conditions in their settlements by putting into practice their won ideas as they know the problems faced by the communities. They are concerned with the changes taking place at the local level as they want to live and work at home, not abroad. Related statements were made by the participants in the public debates themed “Public Lighting Service FOR and AGAINST” that took place in Parlita, Falesti, Info-Prim Neo reports. The debates involved two teams that presented their positions on the necessity of street lighting. The young people reached the conclusion that they can contribute to the development of their communities. The organizers of the event said that by involving the young people in debates they aim to engage them in decision-making and in the actions taken at the community level. The debates cultivate a civilized behavior, free thinking in the young persons and allow them to identify solutions to the problems encountered by the communities. The public debates “Public Lighting Service FOR and AGAINST” were organized by the public association "Caroma Nord" within the Strengthening Confidence by Participative Democracy and Youth Involvement in Decision Making Project. The project is implemented by the Alliance of Community Centers of Access to Information and Training of Moldova through the agency of East Europe Foundation, from the financial resources provided by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, the Foreign Ministry of Denmark and the National Endowment for Democracy.
