Young members leave AMN arguing they are not promoted

Twenty leaders of local youth organizations of the Moldova Noastra Alliance and the Youth Organization's chairman Sergiu Baltaga announced their decision to leave the party and join the European Action Movement (MAE). Baltaga said the young members are not promoted in the AMN and were used only in the election campaign, Info-Prim Neo reports. Among those who left the party are leaders of nine district organizations of the AMN and of four organizations working in Chisinau, two vice chairmen at national level and members of the National Bureau of the AMN's Youth Organization. Sergiu Baltaga said more than 1,000 members decided to leave the AMN and join the MAE. “At the last Congress of the AMN, we realized that we do not belong to this party and decided to withdraw,” said Constantin Uzdris, one of the organization's vice chairmen. “We have a simple explanation for our decision. The young people are not promoted in the present administration of the party. We are good only during the election campaign,” said Victor Tipa, the leader of the AMN's Youth Organization in Leova district. Alexandru Furdui, the leader of the AMN's Youth Organization in Rascani district of Chisinau, said the disrespect for the young members of the AMN is chronic. “We think the present administration of the AMN will bring the party to collapse. We do not believe in the AMN anymore and want to help strengthen another youth force,” said Artiom Musteata, the leader of the Youth Organization in Ungheni. Sergiu Baltaga stressed they decided to join the MAE because it includes honest people, is a pro-European and anticommunist party and promotes young persons. He said that if they contribute to strengthening the MAE, they could become MPs or representatives in the local administration after the next elections. The news comes amid disagreements that appeared inside the AMN after the eighth Congress of the party held on December 12, 2009. Then, the former first vice president of the party Veaceslav Untila and several of the delegates to the Congress left the assembly hall in protest against the reelection of Serafim Urechean as president of the AMN. Recently, a group of members of the AMN, including the former first vice president of the party Veaceslav Untila and the former vice president Iurie Colesnic, defected from the AMN and joined the MAE.
