The 21-year-old man who, last summer, killed a seven-year-old girl in Recea was sentenced to 23 years in prison by the Drochia Court, IPN reports.
The Prosecutor General’s Office said that the court also ordered the collection of 1.5 million lei from the defendant for the benefit of the successor of the injured party in respect of non-pecuniary damage and 25,000 lei court costs.
According to the indictment, the man, while he was at his home in the village of Recea in Rascani district, in the evening, heard his seven-year-old neighbor calling his older brother. Being outraged by the fact that the child disturbed him, he told her to wait for him near the gate of the defendant’s grandfather's house, which was opposite his house. Subsequently, he went outside and took the child to the auxiliary room of that household, where he strangled her, then filled her mouth with sand and covered the lifeless body with garbage.
The defendant did not admit his guilt. According to the conclusions of the psychiatry experts, when he committed the crime, the young man acted with discernment, had the ability to realize his actions and could direct them.
The sentence is not final and can be appealed within 15 days to the Balti Court of Appeals.
